Midwives - Renew

How can I renew my license?

The Board will send you an email notification to renew your license online 180 days prior to your license expiration date. If you have not renewed your license within 120 days, the Board will mail the paper Renewal Notice to your Address of Record (AOR). You may renew your license online by visiting BreEZe or by submitting your renewal notice and payment by mail. Please allow four to six weeks for processing if you are mailing in your renewal notice and payment to the Board. It is the responsibility of the licensee or registrant to renew their license whether a notice has been received or not. Licensees are required to notify the Board within 30 days of a change to their address of record or email address.

I didn't get my renewal application because my address changed. Do I have to pay the delinquent fee?

Yes, if you did not renew prior to the date the fees are imposed, you must pay the delinquent fee. A licensee is required by law to notify the Medical Board in writing within 30 days of a change of address or email address. Licenses may be renewed online through BreEZe regardless of whether a licensee receives the renewal notice. The Board emails a renewal reminder notice 180 days prior to the license expiration date.

Why do I have to pay?

California law requires that to maintain an active, current license, each licensee, including out-of-state licensees, must pay the full biennial renewal fee at the time of license renewal.

I'm leaving the country. Can I pay my renewal fee ahead of time?

Yes, the renewal can be paid within 180 days prior to the expiration of the license.

What is required to renew a license?

Payment of the renewal fee and completion of the license renewal application are required to renew your license. On the renewal form, you must:

Certify that you have completed (and can document if audited) 36 hours of approved continuing education (CE) at the time of renewal or that you have been issued a retired status license or an inactive status license which exempts you from the CE requirement.

What if I haven't submitted the Licensed Midwife Annual Report?
