Physicians and Surgeons

A Physician or Surgeon (M.D.) is an individual issued a license allowing them to practice medicine. A physician may diagnose, prescribe, and administer treatment to individuals suffering from injury or disease.

License Application Processing Times

License application processing times are measured from the date both the application AND required fees are received, to the date of the initial application review. Processing times can increase or decrease depending on the volume of applications received. The following application processing times are current as of the date indicated below. Applicants should apply at least six months prior to when they need their license and should consider the timeframes below.

Note: Expedited applications are excluded from the timeframes reflected below. Please see the Priority Review and Expedited Application Process webpage for more information on the requirements for application expedite.

 All timeframes are based on calendar days.

Processing Times Post Initial Application Review

Processing times can increase or decrease depending on the volume of applications.

Deficient Applications - If any application is deficient at the time of the initial review, the applicant will be emailed a deficiency letter. In addition, all deficiencies will be reflected on the Quick Start Menu of BreEZe VO. Deficiencies may be viewed by selecting Details for the pending application. Documents received after the initial review of the application are reviewed within approximately two weeks of receipt.

Once an application meets all licensure requirements, the application moves forward for a final Quality Assurance (QA) review.

Once an application passes the QA review and has no remaining issues, the application moves forward for license issuance. The license is then issued within 1-3 business days.
